MDRC Fly the club colours at STARS Champion of Champions 2018

On the 20th and 21st October our Showing champions travelled to Aintree for the STARS Champions of Champions show, it was the first year of holding this event and what a success it was, we all had a ball!!!

Day One

The day began with a very early start as Maria Booth and Glebedale Shakira took 9th place and Best Turned Out in a massive Mountain and Moorland Small breeds class,

Maria Myatt and Lacey Harry then went on to take a fantastic 5th in the Mountain and Moorland Large breeds class

Georgia Spencer nailed her rising trot in the Mountain and Moorland Lead rein with Rookery Hesta, however finished out of the placings in a HUGE 40 strong class

To end Day 1, Bev Nelson took an amazing 4th place in a very competitive Show cob class behind previous HOYs and RI competitors.

Day Two

Starting with a very early appearance in the ring for Georgia Spencer in the Best turned out class! The 4 yr old jockey and 4yr old pony will be one to watch for the coming years they both just soaked up the atmosphere and Georgia was delighted with her finalist rosette.

Next saw Maria Booth go back in the ring to take yet another Best turned out award (Well done groom team Jessica and Rosie Mason!!!) and 8th place in the first ridden equitation.

Both Maria Booth and Maria Myatt did a wonderful job in the riding club pony/horse classes but were unplaced, however Maria and Shakira received the Rising Star award for showing the most future potential in the class.

We then went on to support James and Amelia Nelson in the Junior Handler 10-18 years, both of them did amazingly however it was James that finished in the placings coming a very respectable 5th.

Amelia then went up against the adults in the Open Mountain and Moorland small breeds in-hand, herself and Cayberry Weatherman had a fantastic time on there last outing of an amazing first season together.

In the Large breed Mountain and Moorland, MDRC was represented by Rebecca Potts and Wybersley Flashman Image who both ran their socks off to take the Rising Star award.

Finn Williamson with Roxy in the plaited show horse and Carly Mathers and BrownRoad Spike in the youngstock, followed on both getting good marks for their performance.  This is Finn and Roxy’s first season together, and Spike being a yearling was the youngest by nearly 12 months in his class.

To end the show we had the very brave Olivia Mingham in the in-hand Veteran Class with Henry, unfortunately due to the rules of the show Olivia’s Dad Dave was not allowed in the ring with her so at 6 years old in a massive class she completed the show alone and what a fantastic job she did, finishing with the rising star award.
