Welcome!
Macclesfield and District Riding Club, MDRC or Macc Riding Club as it is known to most, is a friendly local club that welcomes
everyone from absolute beginners to the more experienced rider.
We offer the real beginner somewhere to start competing in a variety of classes across showing, equitation, working hunter and show jumping. For the more experienced we offer a high standard of classes with improvers, intermediate and open show jumping up to 3'6", ridden and in-hand showing, equitation and a range of working hunter classes. Details of all of these and many more (we offer over 50 classes per show) are in the
schedule, click on and have a browse.
Don't worry if you have never entered anything before, come along and have a go! We are happy to talk you though the rules and operations of the different events and everyone is very understanding.
Some of our members enjoying themselves!
Following the great success of the MDRC hunter trials over the last three years, this year we are extending our schedule to include a One Day Event at Smallwood on 2nd July. Classes will range from beginners to open and this will also be open to non-members.
Finally, we want to provide our members, families and friends with the opportunity to get a little more involved with the club, so for 2011, we have set up the MDRC Supporters Team – We look forward to seeing you in the 2011 season
Come along and enjoy yourself.

April News01 Senior Novice Team Jumping Report
Osbaldeston Equestrian Centre – 06-03-2011
Our Senior Novice Team all arrived safely in plenty of time and their excitement was not dampened by the prospect of jumping well into late evening or by the fact that due to a last minute withdrawal meant they were down to 3 team
members with every score to count.
Our first rider Jane Hanger had to sprint round learning the course at a speed that Usain Bolt would have been proud of. She was 2nd to jump and this was only her second showjumping round ever on her beautiful Connemara Stallion Ardbear Spirit – Jane rode a fantastic round and looked picture perfect and showed the team the way forward with a
lovely Clear Round.
Our 2nd rider to go was Harriet Corbett with a big bay gelding Zeus, at 17hh+ the warm up arena did prove somewhat of a challenge but Harriet kept her cool and didnt let it affect her performance. She rode a lovely round and was very unlucky that one pole fell but she still finished the round on a very creditable 4 faults which still left us in the running
for a result.
The 3rd and final rider to jump was Sally Ranger on her very special Dreamcatcher V who kept everyones nerves on edge by playing up in the lorry park with his own version of the Spanish Riding Schools Airs above the ground. Not to be deterred by this Sally gathered her nerves and went into the arena with Ralph who in his own exuberant style and bobbing his head all the way round jumped a very nice round but sadly breathed on one pole which fell to finish on 4
faults. This left our team in joint 5th place after the first round – a placing we were keen to hold on to until the end.
The fences were raised and the tension mounted as Jane entered the ring for the 2nd time with Spirit who once again jumped a fabulous stylish round to come home clear to much applause from our loyal team of owners/supporters – this meant that Jane would be in her first ever jump off against all other Double Clear riders. Harriet then jumped
another lovely round on Zeus to come home with 4 faults and Sally and the head bobbing Ralph also came home clear.
These fantastic rounds from all our riders meant we had managed to secure our 5th Place team rosette on the first outing with our brand new senior team and not to be outdone by the team Jane Hanger also managed to win herself an Individual 6th place which was an amazing result for her out of 56 riders. We are very proud of all of you.

MRDC SUPPORTERS MDRC Supporters Team - New for 2011
Team Coordinator - Angela Eardley
As a growing and active riding club, striving to provide a high standard of events and activities for our members, the MDRC Committee are being stretched to deliver our planned programme of events, especially when we put on
additional activities like area qualifier competitions and championships.
We understand that there are a number of people who are interested in getting involved and would like to help out, but do not want to commit to a full role on the committee. So to answer this, we are setting up a new team in 2011
- The MDRC Supporters.
This will allow members, friends and colleagues of MDRC to become (a little) more involved with the club, and
here's an overview of what's involved ....
Those on the team will be able to input to the running of the club via the Supporters Team Coordinator and be kept aware of the general running of the club and detailed activities of our shows and events.
They will be called upon to help or work with committee members on specific events and activities, to be more involved in our shows (indoor and outdoor) and to get involved in the running of some of our bigger events like the Hunter Trials and One-Day-Event. They can also support the club teams at area events, helping out, keeping scores and cheering on our riders!!
We can't offer much as a reward, because like the committee, we hope you want to do this out of the goodness of your heart in support of the club, but where possible small incentives may be provided .
If you are interested in joining the team or would like to talk more about how you can become involve,
contact Angela Eardley on 01260 227393 / 07887 995770
